Chicken Steak in Mushroom Sauce (66k+ orders so far)


Mushrooms. Food and foe. Why foe you ask? The untimely demise of the holy Roman Emperor, King Charles VI, who, while consuming his meal fell dead to the floor, led to the great war of Austrian succession. What he thought to be regular mushrooms turned out to be the dreadful ‘amanita’ or ‘death cap’ mushroom. Unlike the poor king, our herbed chicken-steak paired with a mild, savoury mushroom sauce, one of our bestsellers, has certainly stood the test of time.

Had the then American president Thomas Jefferson, smitten with pasta and sauces, not returned from Italy with a contraption to make macaroni, and served ‘Mac and Cheese’ at the state dinner in 1802, Americans would have known a different comfort food! Your bowl of mac and cheese becomes more scrumptious with delectable pair of mushroom and thyme in it. Sautéed button mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms and al dente macaroni are folded into a cheesy, thyme-infused béchamel, topped with cheddar and baked until a golden crust blankets this delight.
